The idea of this book is so fun. I was looking forward to the undercover journalist aspect. I was excited about what dangers would lie at this high class retreat. I was excited about the cult aspect and how obsessed people were with this famous psychiatrist.
For me, that’s what this book was going to be, but I’m not quite sure that that’s what I read.
The book eventually got super absurd and unrealistic. There wasn’t as much danger as I was hoping. We keep looking for this missing woman and that’s what really is driving the danger and the dark cloud hanging over this cult like retreat. Yet, that was never really drawn out and if this place was so dangerous, shouldn’t there be more than one example?
Additionally, the main character did a lot of things that annoyed me. She wasn’t as discreet, as I was hoping. There were a good handful of scenarios where I didn’t think she handled it like a normal person would.
Overall, this was a fun, absurd, thriller. I would recommend it to my reader friends.
