It’s not the author’s fault I didn’t read the first book in this trilogy, so I tried to be aware of that when I was thinking about my rating.
The book felt pleasant enough when I was starting out but quickly got over complicated. Ella’s drawings didn’t feel necessary or should at least be better spread out? Show me the sketch when she is thinking about what she is sketching? If there is a reason for placing them at the end of some of her chapters, I didn’t get the clue.
Maybe if you read the 1st book and liked that you’d really love this one. For me, it didn’t feel well put together and halfway through it became a real struggle to read.
