I agree with other reviewers that this book starts out SLOW. You really have to push through the mud to get to the stream (is that a fun saying? Did I just make that up?). I already am not a big fan of books based on sleep, lack of sleep or dreams. I find you instantly get an unreliable character and that is ‘cheating’ and slightly boring because the author can do whatever they want.
However, once this book starts getting good, it really starts getting good. I couldn’t put it down as the creepiness starts to make its way in to the story. Although unreliable and the MC slightly annoying – I felt I had to push on to get to the ending.
NOT A FAN: The internal dialogue got a but lengthly. On top of that, it felt unnecessary. It started to feel as if it were filler of the book rather than something the reader wanted to/needed to read.
Overall, an interesting read and I wouldn’t hesitate to pick up another book from Pinborough.
