ANXIOUS PEOPLE BY: FREDRIK BACKMAN

Rating: 2 out of 5.

First off, I LOVE FREDRIK BACKMAN.

I’ve read a few of his books. A Man Called Ove touched me so much I named my jeep after Ove. I normally love his books and how he pulls at the reader’s heart strings and brings humor into sometimes not very humorous situations.

That being said, I STRUGGLED with this book. I’m so surprised people enjoyed it and that it was a ‘book of the year’ nominee and winner on some sites.

I found the reading a struggle to get through. The circle, looping, repeating of events and words and thoughts was so hard to read. Even trying to just push through the story was difficult.

There were moments where I laughed out loud. Backman is still hilarious and knows how to make me laugh. Those moments were so far and few though or then stomped over by repeating something I was already told in the first part of the book and the hilarity was quickly forgotten.

Honestly, give it a try though. Many people love this book and you might too. For those people who struggled with the story, I’m just here to tell you that you are not alone.
