Absolutely sleezy, salacious, wonderful book about a girl you will hate and root for at the same time.

A perfectly wicked debut thriller about an ambitious woman who, after a lifetime of conning alongside her mother, wants to leave her dark past behind and marry the heir to one of the country’s wealthiest families. (Goodreads Blurb)
I enjoyed this. I thought it was it was well done. I am surprised, no baffled, about the lower-ish reading on Goodreads. I wasn’t really expecting that.
So much so, I went hunting for lower ratings to see what people didn’t like about this book. This goes against most of my reviewing morals as I normally like to gather my thoughts first and then go look at other people said.
To summarize a large amount of reviews and kick out the ones that I thought were totally left field. People seemed letdown about the ending. So I’ll start there, it was a little abrupt. I agree naysayers. I think you could make a sequel to this book. Carry on what the ending started. (working very hard to not give away any spoilers here.)
When it comes down to it, sometimes you appreciate a more realistic ending. Sure, it didn’t give you the big splash and slap across the face that maybe you were hoping for in this maybe unrealistic, dramatic thriller. I guess when I was reading this book I wasn’t looking for the slap in the face. I wanted to be entertained by a slightly unlikable character that no one would want to be friends with in real life. And I wanted to like this unlikable character. I wanted her to get what she wanted. So for me, who was rooting for Bea, this was the perfect ending.
I really enjoyed the snarkiness and husband hunting an angle of this book. Which is why I rated it a little higher at four stars. I’m a little upset with myself how long it took me to get to this book from my TBR. (it came off of hold at my library multiple times and I kept putting it back in line.)
I would recommend this to all my friends that are feeling a little bit sleazy. Come join the party.
