A book dripping with sarcasm and blood … if you are looking for a break from serious reading, here is your calling.

A whip-smart and darkly funny crime novel—perfect for fans of My Sister, the Serial Killer and The Maid—that follows a wife and mother with a deadly secret that she must suppress if she wants to maintain her picture-perfect façade. (Goodreads Blurb)
I overall enjoyed this book. It’s extremely fast-paced and dark and witty.
Sometimes the wind comes off as a bit try hard. I don’t want to be anti-book here, but this might be a better show than it would’ve book. Ha. (which they didn’t mention, it was being optioned by Hulu so I’m not wrong.)
I want to also add that the MAN who wrote this book, so interesting. I’m not sure if I have any deeper comment. I don’t want to be sexist. But it really shows you can’t judge a book by its cover, or even the words inside of it. Ha He he writes very well as a dark comedy, housewife.
Let’s get into the meat of it though. I think this is a terribly titled book. I’m sorry I don’t have a suggestion for a better title, but I thought about this title quite often while reading and it always bothered me. (Trivial, I know)
One of my favorite parts of this book though is the way the author kept things moving. Using short chapters. The added entertainment of you really never knew what was going to happen next. I kept wanting to be pulled in.
I thought Lalla was a wonderful sociopath, but sometimes the lack of intelligence annoyed me. I understand that some sociopath can’t understand emotions or pick up certain social cues or understand the emotional motives of us non-sociopaths. My issue was is that with the author was trying to portray? I felt it wasn’t clear if she was an idiot or the author thought the readers were idiots and not picking up on basic logic.
Other than those few points that hit me personally and probably wouldn’t bother other people, this is a four star book. For me, too many little things that added up where I couldn’t put it in a four-star category personally. If you’re looking for A LOT of sarcasm and to avoid any seriousness for a little while, I would 100% recommend this book.
