Why did this book affect me so much?
That’s the question I keep asking myself. Is it the masterful writing from TJR? Is it the storyline? Is it because I’m a little bit of a closeted space nerd? I have no idea, but I was openly sobbing and laughing in the story. It doesn’t make sense at all because the main character Jonnn is so not like me. I didn’t really connect with her on absolutely anything that was going on with her life. Her storyline is so opposite of my own life. That might not be that dramatic of a statement as I think most of us aren’t closeted lesbians in the 1970s trying to hide who we are in a government Company.
Yet, TJR has done it again. Someone needs to study her. She knows how to write books. I absolutely cannot believe how she has pulled this one off.
You feel smart reading all the things that she’s researched and incorporated in the book Yet you don’t feel bored and overwhelmed by the very scientific information. And is this a story about space or is this a romance? Is this a story about friendship?
I’m left feeling so confused. I feel overwhelmed with emotion. And a week later I still can’t get the feelings out of my body.
I’ll leave you with this. Go in blind. And don’t hold back as emotions bubble out of you with every paragraph. Obviously, I would recommend this to all my reader friends.
