Last Seen J.T. Ellison

,

Rating: 3 out of 5.

A psychological thriller as Halley searches for her sister that she always thought was dead. Turns out she didn’t die in a car accident when she was six along with their mom.

Turns out her last name isn’t even her real last name …

Why did her dad hide this from her for so long …

Last Seen is being advertised everywhere to me so it’s time for me to write a review.

Not sure how it’s possible that I know this author, but this is the first book I’ve read of theirs? I swear my Goodreads must be flawed.

Overall, this is a great thriller book. The author is a well-known thriller writer. You can tell she knows what she’s doing and knows how to do it well. A similar author I’d compare her to might be Freida McFadden.

Although I enjoyed the chaotic storyline. The cat and mouse game. The absolute idiotic main character making idiotic decisions which puts her in idiotic situations. In the end, there was too much chaos.

The story is chaotic is because the way the author wrote it was chaotic. There are a lot of disjointed storylines. I wish I would’ve taken more notes throughout the story, but it felt as if there were a lot of editorial mistakes. I know one reviewer mentioned how the name of a character changed throughout the book. I feel I could’ve caught some if I, honestly, cared a bit more. (I don’t take the “free” books from Amazon that seriously 🙃 MAYBE I SHOULD!)

Even though I didn’t take notes on storyline mistakes, my brain was definitely feeling it while reading. I felt confused often, even though I thought that was paying attention to the book. I was reading the book often enough that I should know what was going on, yet it took about 80% of the book to finally start feeling like I was more involved in the storyline.

I didn’t care for the twist.

I didn’t care for the alternate POV villain.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t a lot speaking to me while reading. This won’t deter me from reading more from this author. I feel I owe it to her for knowing who she was for so long, but apparently never reading any of her books (still questioning, if that is actually true). I would not recommend this to my reader friends. I also wouldn’t bash you if you told me you were reading this book and would love to chat about it.
