A story about three friends, how they came together unexpectedly and spent a summer living in a magical land.
An innocent game crosses paths with an evil man that shakes the entire small town.
Things aren’t always what they seem. This layered thriller will have you constantly at the edge of your seat.
As you can see from the rating I really liked this book. I thought it was well written.I was constantly pulled along and always thought I figured out the story. In hindsight, it feels a little bit more obvious, but I completely enjoyed the ride to get there to the ending.
I thought the characters were all really well built. I enjoyed all the tension. Right now, I don’t feel this way … but while reading, I felt the story was way deeper than a simple thriller formula.
I really enjoyed all the creepy aspects. Added more to the story than the psychological part of the thrills. Even the characters I hated I actually, secretly liked.
That’s not saying the story is anything more than a thriller. It’s not going to stick with me forever and something that I’ll quote often. Although I did highlight some sentences or phrases that I thought the author was extremely clever about.
“And do you?” I asked, scraped empty.
… two thin words splitting open with the weight of all they contained.
If I was questioning it before, this is why I always come back to Kate Alice Marshall. Right when I’m done with this review I’m going to add her back catalog to my TBR.
Overall, I thought this was an excellent read. I found myself wanting to pick it up and wanting to know what the girls were up to next. There’s plenty going on that kept me entertained for every single page.I would definitely recommend this to my thriller reader, friends.
