Two strangers meet by chance in a support group and find they both want revenge. But what’s the point of revenge if you get caught? So how do you not get caught? You don’t commit the murder yourself. From there a pact is made.
For those with a short attention span for a long game formatted, psychological thriller –this book is for you. Right from the beginning, we are brought into high intensity scene. Best part of this book? It’s just the tip of the iceberg. It always feels like there is something happening or about to happen while reading this book.
There’s a wide range of character’s POV that I’ll admit I sometimes struggled to keep track of who had a relationship with who. The way these different POVs interact aren’t as obvious (or maybe it’s a personal struggle). For me, I didn’t see how the web was weaved well enough. To clarify, I didn’t find the amount of characters confusing. Their subtle connections didn’t really matter until the end and by that point I was all caught up. I was reading this as a physical book, which I sometimes drag on a bit compared to my any e-books.
I did not guess the twist at all.
I was shocked when I realized this wasn’t a simply laid out plot. I say that with the highest compliment. I really enjoyed all the twists and turns. Honestly, if there was no big ‘twist’ I would have liked the book as well. On the other hand … after the twist reveal things started getting a little wacky. Moments were a bit too outrageous. It was easy to continue on due to never really feeling that slow down in pace.
The vigilante aspect of the book is what caused me to drop a full star. It’s what took me from ‘omg this is nuts and great!’ to a slight eye roll.
I was in a reading slump before I picked up this book and it was the perfect medicine. I always recommend diving into an easy reading, don’t have to think too hard thriller when someone says they are in a slump and this book was perfect. I would recommend this to friends.
