This is the 4th book in the A Throne of Glass series and Celaena Sardothien has finally embaraced becoming Aelin Galathynius.
This means, she is ready to take the throne. Before doing that she needs to make a plan, gather supporters, create a court and take the throne from her enemies.
I’ll make this review quick because I’m already so behind on reading this series.
I’ve been super impressed with Maas writing this long series, long novels up to this point. This specific book felt like a transition book. Listen, no drama here .. it happens. Even in Lord of the Rings I felt we had a transition ‘book’/part of the story.
I can’t believe this was 662 pages and I’m not quite sure what happened other than in the last 20%. Otherwise it is all planning, angst, planning.
Chaol is still Chaol.
Dorian is I guess still Dorian.
Rowan is SO BORING of a partner. His whole character annoys me. I’m also confused as we are constantly told what a great fighter he is, but he seems to fail more often than not.
We get a few more characters, that again, I don’t really care about.
Her general, I forget how to spell his name, was again beefed up that he’s this great warrior. Yet I was not impressed. Also his name and Aelin name are too the same. It was annoying using my brain so much to to distinguish the two.
And finally, the amount of people obsessed with Aelin is starting to annoy me. I felt I liked her more in past books because she was flawed and in her own world. Now all these ‘great warriors’ are begging at her feet and I’m not sure what she is doing that is even so impressive?
Overall, I’ll of course keep reading the series due to the amount of time I have invested in this series and I need to know what the heck is going to happen.
