Newlyweds April and Eddie are on their way to a glorious, relaxing honeymoon. Getting lost along the way, a quick murder investigation and so much more takes them to anything but a relaxing honeymoon.
Set in 1995, St. James gives us another creepy thriller along a dark and quiet road where once you travel along the road there are no guarantees you’ll make it off of it.
St. James is my go-to for paranormal, creepy thrillers. There is a special skill required to make someone ‘jump’ by reading rather than seeing. St. James in the past has been very successful in giving me goosebumps, but this book was slightly lacking in that department.
I had some issues with the plot that I cannot go into due to spoilers. The big ‘what!? that’s crazy!’ moment was pretty obvious to me from the beginning.
Yet, I really enjoyed this read. I thought the beginning story arc would playout throughout the whole book and was pleasantly surprised when the story felt as if it was winding down… but I clearly had another half of the book to read. THAT moment alone made me excited. What else does she have to say? What else could she throw at us?
Again, although there are some ‘issues’ along the way.. this was a fun road to go down. I enjoyed my time spent in Coldlake Falls. I would recommend this book to my friends.
