The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches By: Sangu Bandanna

Rating: 3 out of 5.

A “serious” story about the very secret society of witches and one witch who needs to decide to follow the rules or follow her heart.

To get this out there right in the beginning of this review, this book didn’t do it for me. It didn’t give me the feels and I never connected with the characters.

The weird spicy scene towards the end is where I finally ‘gave up’ trying to care. It felt like the straw that broke the camels back of a book trying to be in 2 worlds. A YA and a mature YA.

The warm and cozy story I was looking for wasn’t there. It was a straight forward, boring plot. Like a teenager trying to be cool by throwing in rebellious lingo. Characters that were forgettable unless we were being told they were ‘unforgettable’, like the three kids.

Not for me. Question… why would I want to cozy up and read this for autumn? (Great marketing..) I feel it happens more during Christmas. We aren’t getting any cute Meg Ryan vibes in the story. Anyways – off topic. I wouldn’t recommend this book at any time of the year.
