The Screwtape Letters By: C.S. Lewis

Rating: 5 out of 5.

As I work my way through C.S. Lewis work I find myself once again realizing the magic of him and his writing.

The Screwtape Letters is a delicious satire on religion as the reader enjoys short, but concise correspondents between the devil and a tempter.

Lewis has created something that is sometimes funny, sometimes thought provoking and always entertaining.

Each letter touches on a little temptation, making any reader have something that could find interesting or thought provoking. I was amazed how such short letters could have so much punch in them. No line was wasted.

I ‘read’ this via audio book and the reader they assigned this story could not have been better chosen. A deep, scratchy voice that really emphasized we were hearing from a demon. I would love to see a hard copy and read some letters physically as well, but the audio book did not disappoint. Added a little extra spook to the whole experience.

Overall, easy 5 stars. I see again what makes Lewis so special to so many people.
