Dreamy …
I really enjoyed this dreamy, time traveling story of WWII.
There were a lot of characters to keep up with, four in total, and that was slightly over whelming to begin with. Eventually you get to know the characters and follow along. The dates at the beginning of the chapters I started to ignore as it was hard to keep up with people, lives, history, dates and places.
The story is still quite magical. There are so many layers, so many hard things to talk about when it comes to WWII .. I really enjoyed the author’s take on specifically da Vinci’s painting. It gave a focus to a very complicated war.
I really, really enjoyed the way the author had everyone come together and how it ended. It could have gone a different way … but I think the author ended it the most respectable way. Less drama, more true to the character. I’m not sure if Edith and Dominic were real people? I wish that I would have known that, now that I’m thinking of it.
Overall – a wonderful book. I would recommend.
