A complicated twist and turn that if you commit to it – you won’t be disappointed.
First off – I loved this book. I got weirdly obsessed and couldn’t stop reading. I would read a couple pages during a movie, eating, right before bed, right before work … I wouldn’t stop. I just needed to know.
Second off – I would agree with most reviewers that there are many characters (it feels like) and we are jumping all over and that can sometimes be confusing.
I do not think that complexity of the book and it’s characters would make me not recommend this to people.
I also think some other reviewer’s comments on how the book isn’t realistic isn’t quite true. People don’t ‘care’ as much as one might think … especially in a ‘rich’ neighborhood. They ignore and look away. So to me, it is very realistic that all these happenings were never reported to the police… but later on when the newspapers wanted to do the story on the drama .. everyone suddenly has an opinion. This, to me, felt very realistic.
Overall, I loved this book. I would recommend this book and Lisa Jewell’s other books.
