THE PUSH BY: ASHLEY AUDRAIN

Rating: 4 out of 5.

At first I thought I hated it, but then I couldn’t put it down.
In the beginning I disliked the writing style. I didn’t understand why we kept going back in time and it left me super confused. Even with the different type (italicized vs not) I still found myself thinking … wait… who is Etta, who is Cecelia and who is Blythe? I do think some sort of break up is necessary for the way the author shaped the story into a short chaptered, long letter to the husband.

Anyways – any negatives I felt were quickly replaced with the following thoughts: ‘Wait, what?’ ‘Oh my gosh, no way’ ‘That’s messed up’ …

I sickly enjoyed the ‘messed up’ portion of this book. It was very intriguing. I feel this book could be called ‘When a serial killer is born ..’. Ha The author has a much better title, so please ignore my suggestion.

Other reviewers mentioned the poor writing. I felt the writing matched the character. Blythe even mentioned somewhere along the line where ever since Violet her writing changed and got more choppy and short. If the author did that on purpose, she did it well.

Anyways – this book might be hyped up a bit more than it deserves. It’s not amazing, life changing book but I did enjoy it. Therefore, I will say, I recommend.
