I’m not sure what could be said about The Lord of the Rings that hasn’t already been said (or written in a book) (or studied in a college course) (or… you get the point).
   Instead, I will mention some surprising moments I had while reading. First off, I had no idea this was a SINGLE book, rather than 3 separate stories or series as depicted normally. You always hear about LOTR trilogy. Very interesting. So I will have a single ‘review’ for the single ‘book’. 

I knew there was a whole world, scholars, people who loved LOTR out there, but I had no idea the extent it went. I had no idea we have books to study this world. That the legacy of Tolkien was carried on by his son. That the printing of LOTR had to happen multiple times to fix errors while printing. A whole new world was opened up to me and it was amazing. 
     Now, I don’t think I’m going to go deeper than the stories itself… I’m not a super fan. (ha) 
     I would like to encourage anyone who loves reading and who loved the movies .. please pick up this book(s). I was always afraid to pick up these books. I heard ‘gossip’ that LOTR was hard to read. So long winded readers would give up. Not worth it. 

I’m not going to say it’s ‘not true’ but I do think it’s personal preference. I fully enjoyed reading this book. I fully enjoyed the language. I fully enjoyed the detailed battle scenes (ha). I did not find this hard to read. 
     The reason for writing such a lengthy ‘review’ on this book is really to encourage anyone who was nervous to pick up the book version of this famous story, TO DO SO. Take it from me. I was afraid before and am so happy I read through. There are so many scenes and storylines left out of the movies. You won’t regret it.
