THE CLOCKMAKER’S DAUGHTER BY: KATE MORTON

,

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I didn’t hate this … but I might be biased because I just discovered Kate Morton and she is my new obsession.

I’ll agree that this book is no where near the quality of her other books. It’s long, it’s drown out. You aren’t sure where she is going with it. For me, I wasn’t sure I cared. This is where I start differing from the lower ratings others have given.

I didn’t care where the story went. I didn’t care where the climax was. I didn’t care if there was a climax. I was reading for the ride and the ride was AWESOME.

Please don’t pick up this book and think, I am here for a wild ride, an interesting plot line to keep me guessing. That is not what this book is. This book is a journey. It’s real life. It’s slow. It has exciting moments … but every story, every book cannot be an instagram reel. There has to be those real moments that bring us back down to earth. If you are going to be brought down to earth, might as well be done with the beautiful writing of Ms. Morton.
