So dark. So creepy. So wrong. …. but so good.
This was one of the top dark thrillers I’ve read in awhile. I’m upset that I didn’t pick it up sooner. I’m not sure why that is, yet here I am years later after release giving this wonderful book a review it deserved years ago.
I thought this was an excellent thriller. I enjoyed the short, choppy chapters. Although the jumping around did lose me a bit. I’m normally quite unbothered with jumping around in books, but this time I had a hard time keeping the characters straight. I’m not docking any ‘points’ for this – maybe it’s just the Swedish naming vs US naming threw me off… either way, that’s on me, not the author.
This is a SLOW burn – but I loved it. Short, quick chapters leave you on the edge as you switch to another perspective. This made me want to keep reading to get back to the chapter that cut me off short …. then the interrupting chapter gets me on the line… then I get back to .. – you see the point. I thought I figured out ‘who dun it’ a couple times and turns out I was wrong each time. LOVE THAT. I also love that the ‘big reveal’ doesnt come out of no where. Hate it when books say, ‘oh and this person that is a cousin of the wife’s mother’s sister’s neighbor’s friend you have no idea about because they weren’t in the story is actually the one who did it!’ This ending, is GOOD.
Overall, excellent book. Excellent story. Excellent plot line. Excellent characters.
