HUGE Riley Sager fan – but this one was harder to get through compared to the others. I just reallllllllyy hated the main character. I hated being mislead with straight lies from other characters. And I could not put the book down.
I’m realizing a pattern with Sager books.
– They are an emotional thriller (for the reader).
– Usually are forced to read them in one sitting due to being completely sucked in.
– I will always pick up any book they write.
– Very easy to read. The writing just flows in my brain (if that makes sense).
I also just learned that Riley Sager is not a ‘real person’ rather a ‘pseudonym’. So that’s EXTREMELY interesting. Can’t believe I just found out 5 book in. Adds some additional mystery to these ‘mystery’ books.
To summarize, I didn’t like this book. I thought the ‘movie’ angle was incredibly stupid. It wasn’t an ‘I just didn’t like that main character’, it was more a ‘the main character was so stupid and made the entire book pointless’. I’m still giving it 4 stars because Sager knows how to write and knows how to make readers read – so he/she still gets a round of applause from me.
