STORM OF SECRETS BY: LORETTA MARION

Rating: 4 out of 5.

First off, I am obsessed with the idea of “The Cape”. Living on the edge of the ocean, with storms, tropical heat and winters – sounds like a challenge that I have idolized for awhile now. This book was already right in line for what I was looking for.
This is #2 in a series and I did not read the first one. That being said, while reading I didn’t feel like I was missing a big hole anywhere. Everything felt explained for a first time reader of this world and I didn’t feel confused.

What was confusing was the amount of characters in this book. So I will say if you are the type of reader that get confused with a large cast of characters in a book, this might not be the book for you. I personally, don’t mind. I enjoyed all the characters. Especially the jump into the past.
Yes, the time traveling got weary, but in the end it was present day vs one character’s story line jumping around. I thought it was well done and clearly defined where you were in the timeline, so it didn’t bother me. I really enjoyed Renee’s story. I found it amazing how it all tied together in the end.
The large cast of characters along with the multiple story lines. A murder. A missing boy. An unknown boy. All of this can be a lot to handle in a little book. Yet, as a romantic, the chaos of the story makes sense.A stormed rolled over the cape and not just a physical storm…. The chaos just plays into the theme of the book and I ate it up.
This isn’t a five star book. I’d probably go with a 3.5 rounded up to 4 due to loving this world Loretta has built for us readers. This is what I would call a ‘plane book’. The type of book that you want you to devour on a single plane ride.

If you’ve read the book, what did you think? Let me know in the comments below!

(This is the second time I am writing this review due to a technological glitch that deleted my first draft of this review. So I’m sorry if it doesn’t have the same piazza that I should be giving.)
