A typical romance story in the modern world.
This is a solid 3.5 stars, but I rounded up to 4.
This is a solid young adult rom-com set in the modern world. When I say ‘modern’ I am referring to the fact that the main character is gay and IT’S NOT A BIG DEAL. Sometimes when stories have not straight characters in it, the author tends to make it a big deal, therefore not making it ‘normal’. To avoid offending anyone, I know there is still a fight to make coming out and living a ‘not straight’ life normal – but this was the first time where I felt all the supporting characters weren’t surprised when there were same sex feelings. I enjoyed that.
The writing isn’t the best … but I wasn’t as disgusted with it as other reviewers. It is the main reason I dropped it down stars.
Overall, this is your basic, young adult love story. It was an easy read. A typical plot and ending. I would recommend anyone to pick up if they need something light to break up their reading, as I sometimes do being obsessed with mysteries and dark thrillers.
