Another WWII book that blew my mind.
I ADORED this book. I love the story, love the characters and cried at the ending. I was yelling at the pages through my tears. Alan Hlad was messing with me! (ha)
This is a well done story. It weaves between characters perfectly.
Wonderful, unique depiction of Churchill. I feel we only ever read about the man who makes speeches, takes baths and commands a war (all true) – but you never see the kinder side of Churchill. The man who has the world on his shoulders but takes the time to send a note to a worker. Funny side note, I just happen to watch Antique Roadshow and someone had a wonderful handwritten note from Churchill to thank them for a Christmas card.
Anyways, I read a lot of WWII stories and am I surprised I am still discovering another angle, another storyline and so many unique characters that authors are creating during this time to give us a glimpse into this world.
Would 100% recommend this book.
