As a reader of Willingham’s previous novel – I would say the author has ‘stepped up’ in her next book. Her first book I guessed the twist right away and as I started this book I thought I had it all figured out once again. I wasn’t expecting to be surprised…. but I was.
It was an enjoyable story. The kind of thriller that you find yourself sometimes reading too quickly and have to go back and reread some sentences. The thought provoking action makes you unable to put the book down. Each chapter leaving you on the edge. Each character getting more suspicious.
I didn’t feel connected to any of the characters, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the overall story.
I am already obsessed with the city of Savannah, so I was extra happy to stumble across a book based there. I found myself googling some of the squares she referenced, because the city is stunning.
I do have one annoyance that is sticking with me even now. Curious of anyone else is bothered or just me. I’ll word myself carefully to avoid spoilers although it’s not really spoilllliinnnggg anything. Anyone else wish they could hop on the computer and continue playing the video? The MC might not want to know what happens after she picked him up, but I’d like to know? (ha)
Willingham has become an author I can trust to deliver a good story, so I’ll be looking forward to her next book. I did purchase this book and tucked it right next to her debut on my bookshelf. Excellent book, nothing that will stick with me for years, but entertaining nonetheless. A solid 4.5 stars for me.
