Let me start by saying, I read this via audio book. Although I loved the speaker, I felt I was missing something by not holding a used paperback book while reading. That feeling, the pages, the smell were lost and I really believe it would have added to the reading experience.
Now – big Christie fan here, but this won’t be my favorite. There was something missing… Sure it has Christie’s wit and wonderful dialogue. Some great lines that made me laugh out loud. Yet, there was something lacking.
This wasn’t the normal perfect formula, intriguing, mind bending mystery. I would say it is more an adventure story. I did read this is her second novel she ever wrote, so that is interesting. I appreciate it for a glimpse into her first start of writing and am amazed how much you can see she matured as she went along.
Still a good read, a good piece of history and I was entertained. This is realistically probably a 3 star book, but I can’t do anything less than 4. (ha)
