Kate Morton is easily one of my top favorite authors. She writes books that affect my heart in a melting sense, rather than a heart pounding thrill way. She’s the person I reach to when I want to melt into a chair. Looking back at my notes for this book, I wrote how I was having a hard time getting into it. Yet, when I think back to this book I remember the drama, the love and being unable to put it down. How funny when things change.
The setting was magical. There is a lot of description to pull you into each scene. This can be a positive for some, HUGE negative for others. I find that Morton finds the perfect balance for what I can tolerate in a book. Although there is a mystery built into the book, to me, I’m not reading it for the mystery … I’m reading this book for the magical scenery and romanticism that is built in.
The book is tied up perfectly, which again, reminds me that this is a romance before it’s a thrilling mystery. As long as readers keep the expectations realistic before going into the book, I think this could be an excellent read for any romantic out there.
