ONE BY ONE BY RUTH WARE

,

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I will always be a huge Ruth Ware fan – no matter how I feel about her latest books. She makes too many good ones to give up on her with the ‘okay’ ones. As you can tell, this book was ‘okay’.
One, I’m kinda over authors copying the typical Christie book. It’s over done, never unique enough to make a real splash and always so predictable. This is the case with ‘One By One’ – I mean, even the title is kinda the same as Christie.

So yes, the book was predictable.
     The setting was boring.
The characters were ‘meh’. On top of it, I wasn’t really a fan of the names. Knowing that Tiger was a girl or Indigo was a boy. Stupid point to make (maybe?), but the characters weren’t important enough for me to care so I was unsure every time they came into the text what was going on.
Is skiing boring to read about or is it just me? The action scenes while skiing were boring. I found myself skimming large paragraphs to be able to move on.

Overall, just not the best. Yet – I did find myself wanting to pick up the book and know what was going on/how the author was going to end it. Let’s be real, we all know ‘who did it’. I’m not sure if Ruth was going for an ‘it’s so obvious it can’t be’ kind of moment? But it was so obvious, it was obvious. (ha)
Again, I am rounding this up to 4 stars, but really, it’s a 3.5 star book. I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend this book to anyone, but I would always recommend Ruth Ware because she is still one of the best.
