I loved, loved this story. I recently just watched (not read, sorry) The Summer I Turned Pretty and wow it felt reallllllyyyy similar. Except, Every Summer After is a little bit more … spicy. (Well, a lot more spicy.) I’ll contradict myself later in my review, but this is an adult novel inside a young adult shell.
    As a whole, this is a super good YA book. It’s cute, it’s a love story and it all felt very real. The situations felt real. I enjoyed that dialogue. I was sucked in to the story, into Sam/Percy’s lives and I could not get enough. I was obsessed with reading the story. I CRIED often, laughed a little. 

Let’s go back to my first couple points… Anyone else notice how similar this is to The Summer I Turned Pretty? Two boys, one girl, going to a summer house for the girl, older brother a ladies man and way flirty, boy’s mom dies of cancer….. Maybe it wasn’t and I’m not accusing anyone of anything I just could not help but picturing the characters from the prime show/books with the characters in Fortune’s book. 
     Second point, the ‘spiciness’. This was raunchy. It should be characterized as a spicy, sexual, etc, etc category and not a ‘young adult’ book. I would not want my younger child to read this cute book about a summer love between some pre-teens. That is one thousand percent not what this book is. This book is for ADULTS reminiscing on being a young and in love. And goodness, I was not thinking about sex at 13, I’ll tell you that. So again, a very ADULT book with kind of unrealistic age of characters. But hey, it’s fiction. Let Fortune have some wiggle room. 
​     For a spicy, adult novel – dang, this is a good one.
