This book surprised me! I was really attracted to it’s title and cover (I know, I know don’t judge a book by the cover … ). Glad I picked up this story, because what a wonderful world to dive into and learn about.
The ‘world’ the reader gets to dive into is very unique. I always enjoy when fantasy worlds are clever but not too clever that my basic human mind can’t understand.
I enjoyed that the world building was slowly discovered by the reader (and characters) so we didn’t have to feel like we were missing out or confused at all.
I enjoyed getting to know the characters throughout the story Sometimes the MC’s decisions bothered me or didn’t feel true to who I thought he was. I will say, the Professor’s character is really one that stood out. Without giving too much away… he was my favorite.
Some parts are rough, sometimes things didnt make sense. Some events were foreshadowed and had a lot of emphasis on these ‘visions’ and ‘dreams’ and it all felt unnecessary and unhelpful.
Yet, overall I loved this story. I really enjoyed it. I’m disappointed with the cliffhanger, but only because now I have to decide if I will pick up the next one the series or keep working my very high TBR pile. An easy 4 stars for me!
