A PARIS APARTMENT BY: MICHELLE GABLE

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I really enjoyed this story!
My favorite part of it was going in completely blind. I found this book tucked into a ‘free little library’ and it had the word ‘Paris’ in the title, so I just scooped it up. I had no idea this actual apartment existed. That Oliver, the auctioneer, was a real person. That Marthe was a real person. I googled halfway through as the story felt too … ‘good’ … to be made up. I was happy to find a little backstory on it all. It was awesome SEEING the actual items that the author was describing in the book.

Now – for the story itself. It was well done for me. A little odd here and there. Some things didnt jive. The main character always seemed like she had a chip on her shoulder (and yes, cheating on someone is bad and I DO understand her conflict) but it went a little too far. It didn’t seem right. All the characters didn’t seem ‘solid’. If that makes any sense at all. Other reviewers have mentioned the same thing.

Yet, I still loved the story. I loved the book and the descriptions and I really loved jumping into sneaky Marthe’s POV/storyline. Maybe I am one of those people that just melts when a story is written in/about major cities like … New York, Berlin, Moscow… and yes, Paris. The author allowed me to I travel to Paris in my head through this book and for that, THANK YOU.
