This was an interesting one for me. It was different – which is great. I don’t feel there are many books like this – so first of all, congrats to the author for finding a place to be original.
The book itself felt real. The whole thing felt like it was something that could happen in real life – other than a few purchases (that I will not name due to SPOILERS). I could picture a lot of friends groups that I’ve been in and watched one another turn from friends to lovers. The confusion, the not wanting to ruin a friendship are real problems in these situations and the author handled everything very well.
Another one of my favorite aspects of this book was the dialogue. It felt realistic. Not too poetic, because let’s be real… we aren’t poetic in real life. We are crude, funny, confused and sometimes say what’s in our head whether it was a good idea or not.
I spent a lot of time rolling my eyes or being annoyed at the actions of the characters, but hey, that’s real life (I guess).
My one real criticism is I hate the title of the book. It didn’t vibe for me. It didnt tell me what the book would be about (really). It was weird. I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but I did and because of the title I almost didn’t pick this book up to read. I’m glad I did, but I’d warn others against taking this title too seriously. I think I’m giving it too high of a rating, but this is where I’m landing today. Realistically, this feels more like a 3 star book.
