UNSPEAKABLE THINGS BY: JESS LOUREY

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Interesting book! What intrigued me about it was that it was based on a true story. I am out of true crime documentaries to watch, so I thought why not read one? Yet, that’s not really what this book is about. Which I knocked a full star off for.
The book is about Cassie and her messed up life. I agree with a few other reviewers when I say, the ‘yuck factor’ was high in the book. The uncomfortable relationship with her dad, unnecessary. The swinger parties, unnecessary. A lot of unnecessary add ins to this book to tell a story about missing boys that we don’t really get to learn about.

Also, whoever you think ‘did it’… well, they ‘did it’. The absolute lack of a ‘twist’ is very disappointing. I could be a bit more forgiving if the story was telling a true story but due to the liberties the author took, the least she could do was add a bit of entertainment.
Overall, I maybe wouldn’t recommend this book, but I definitely wouldn’t say stay away. It was a creepy, crawly thriller. If that interests you, pick it up!
