TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE BY: CAROLA LOVERING

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Not for me … This is a 2.5, rounded up to 3 star book.

I can’t even put my finger on what was off about this book, but something was just OFF. It just wouldn’t end. The ‘twist’ was meh. The characters, meh.

It’s the kind of story that your friend tells you at a bar. As they are talking you start looking around, thinking you are hungry, noticing the lighting feature hanging above you … You say ‘ah’ and ‘uh-hem’ in all the right places. You can hear the story … but it’s just not interesting enough. Then as you finish your drink, you look down in amazement and wonder ‘how can this story still be going on?’ You want to ask the bartender for another drink, but you don’t want to be rude and interrupt. Yes – this is exactly how it was reading the book.

As I neared the end of the book, looking at the amount of pages left and where I felt the story was I was like … how is this going to end? I agree with other reviewers that it ended with a thud. It was boring. All this build up, round about talking, whining … it was just boring. It could have been worth it if there was a fun twist in the end. Yet, nothing. This was just a nothing story.
