THE LOST WORLD BY ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE

,

Rating: 3 out of 5.

I’m slowly making my way through some classics that I thought were necessary and this book popped up. I heard this was the inspiration for ‘Jurassic Park’. Am I wrong about that? Anywho – big Jurassic Park fan, so I thought… obviously I have to read the book.
Overall, this book was lacking for me. The writing and wow moments didn’t hold up throughout time. The Sherlock Holmes series were excellent and entertaining – so I maybe had unrealistic high hopes for the same level of awesomeness that this book I thought would bring.

A few comments from other reviewers made me laugh though… the original ‘friend zone’ story. An arrogant narrator, definitely.
Also, I read this via audio book and the reader was AWESOME. Couldn’t ask for a better voice, inflection and accent to tell this story.
Overall, good enough book. Would recommend. But a classic story I wouldn’t reread.
