THE HOUSEMAID’S SECRET BY FREIDA MCFADDEN

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This series has come out of no where for me and it has been SUPER surprising. I have absolutely adored reading this stumbledupon series.
The Housemaid is so easy to read and so fast paced and so twisty that you can’t put it down. Now … this is the second book in the series. So I was on to Freida’s game but I was still excited to see how she would twist this story up.

For the second story, I did find myself disappointed in the start as I liked the way the first story ended. Although the first storyline came into the second book… it didn’t pick right up like I wish it did. I almost DNF’d the book in those first handful of pages. (Dramatic, I know. )
There were a few situations that bothered me …. First of all, Enzo. Either put him in the story or don’t. He annoyed me. He was too much a ‘fairy godmother’ character. Also towards the end he lost his ‘accent’ in the writing for a few scenes.
Secondly, Millie was so flip-floppy. Either be awesome or don’t. I felt the character had a hard time committing to what the core character was. She wanted to save the day, she wanted to be devious but internally she didn’t? It was conflicting for me. It also could have been purposeful for the way Freida masterfully worked the story…. no spoilers. Read the book and let me know what you think in the comments.
Overall – I enjoyed continuing this ‘happen upon’ series. The question now … will there be a third?
