By no means a life changing thriller here, but a good solid effort from the author. It had a lot of *eye rolls* moments and I have to agree with many other reviewers when they mention the character building and plot development was poor.
It’s a straight give away on the ‘who-dun-it’ part. On top of that the weird relationship between Emma and Jake when she’s trying to prove herself. I also kept wondering why Emma left all her photos open to anyone to walk into when she was under threat in her cabin. Never made sense to me … I thought we were supposed to be under cover here?
It’s important for authors to get a bit more understanding of a subject before writing about it or you are going to have a lot of unhappy readers. Here, you can tell the author has no knowledge of the FBI and how they work. Now, I don’t either… but I know enough of what doesn’t work as I’ve read a lot of FBI stories. (ha) So maybe I am an expert! (just kidding)
Anyways – a solid eye rolling, horrible plot with a side of bad character development but for some reason all of that didn’t offend me. I finished it and I didn’t have a bad taste in my mouth afterwards. This book probably deserves 2 stars, but I’m giving it 3.5 stars rounded down to 3.
