I’m not going to overcomplicate my review because it’s not an overly complicated book.
This is a classic thriller. A plane read. A quick read. A Netflix movie.Whatever you want to call it, it does the job and it does it quick. I found this story quite enjoyable. I read it quickly and became quite obsessed with the story as it was easy to dive into.
The plot isn’t going to make your head spin… but you also won’t be disappointed. Sure, there are a little bit of holes in the plot. Harry doesn’t make decisions that make sense. Like in horror movies where the characters run into the haunted house instead away from it. You might think that’s why I dropped a star, but it’s not.
I’m okay with some thrillers having a handful of holes in the plot if they keep me interested and Steadman did that. I felt the story moved along really well and entertained me along the way.
The only reason I’m dropping a star as this isn’t a book that is going to ‘stick’ with me. I might even forget about it after writing this review. But I don’t think that’s a bad thing. While I read this book, I enjoyed myself immensely. If someone were to ask me if they should read The Family Game, I would say ‘yes!’
