HAWK MOUNTAIN BY CONNER HABIB

Rating: 3 out of 5.

A great opening scene that sucked me in right away. I had no idea what to expect when I picked up this book but when I finished it, I wasn’t sure if I was really expecting … that.
This is gory. VERY gory. Like stomach turning gory. It was hard to read after awhile and when ‘things’ weren’t happening, I felt myself scanning, rather than reading and hoping it would go away. (ha)
I enjoyed the story, I think. The character building was nice. The jumping around was okay. I was able to follow along and the author left enough mystery where I was excited to keep reading and find out more. In the middle of the story, there was quite a turn in direction.

This is where my ‘this was great’, turns into a ‘this was great?’. It was so unexpected and things got hectic quick. I am curious if the chaos was representing the character or the author let the story get out of hand. I will admit I was happy when this book was over with. Again though, I question if it was because I didnt like the story or the story was written so well, I was so creeped out is why I felt the relief. I still, days later after reading, cannot understand my feelings on the matter.
So overall, good story. But I say ‘good story’ with a questionbecause I really dont understand how I feel. Read it and see what you think at the end. I would love to hear your thoughts.
