Daisy Darker BY: Alice Feeney

Rating: 3 out of 5.

My only note while reading was ‘struggling to get into the characters’. Now as I’m finished reading the book, I will say I could change that to, ‘struggled to care about the characters’. The book is very underwhelming. I’m sorry to harp on these style of books so much, but if you are going to copy the queen you have to do it perfectly.
Daisy Darker is a mix between And Then There Were None and The 6th Sense – the story does some hopping around in time periods, which I will give credit where credit is due, Feeney did well.

Otherwise, the twists and turns were predictable, but I guess, enjoyable. The ending is what really stuck a knife in my heart though. We were weaving towards the final reveal so perfectly and suddenly we changed to enjoyable look backs to the past into a TELLING. I hate being told how a story goes rather than being shown.
Overall, it was an interesting idea, but the encore let me down and ruined the very small wave of enjoyability I was riding on throughout the book.
