UGLY LOVE BY COLLEEN HOOVER

,

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Two people meet, fall in love but someone’s past won’t let them create a common future.
That could be an over simplified summary of this book. I know we have Hoover super fans here and listen I get the hype! The same way I understood the Fifty Shades of Grey hype. And for the same reason (maybe more here) I say…. toooooooooo spicy for me.

I’m not opposed to spice, but I did make my font smaller on my kindle while reading this, middle seat, on the plane.
I’m not saying Hoover was trying to give us all a good life lesson, like, after something bad you can still have something good?

If that’s the case, we really missed the mark. How about Tate should have some self respect for herself. No matter how much Miles said he loved her, I swear it wasn’t as much as Rachel. The interaction between Tate and Miles wasn’t as explosive and felt unrealistic that the attraction hit them THAT hard after six years of Miles being basically a hermit.
The repetitive romance, the constant ‘oh my god I love you so much. you are so hot. wow when you breath I just want to die’ got very exhausting. It wasn’t new, different and I found myself skimming large chunks of pukey-romance-not-necessary-words.

I do think this is classic Hoover – a perfect example of what her style of books can/will be. This story fits the Hoover fans and if you like any of her other books (other than Verity) you’ll love Ugly Love.
