Rating: 4 out of 5.

Absolutely beautiful book about a mother telling her children about a love interest turned great movie star.

You can’t say this book isn’t well written. It is. It’s beautiful. I found real peace while reading and even though winter is hitting us now, I longed for the warmth of the Michigan summers.

The idea of this plot alone was wonderful. It was different. A summer romance that barely latest a couple months that left a mark on the family. The ending giving the reader the full circle, picture perfect moment. I sighed in satisfaction.

Yet, I chose to not give this book 5 stars. For my first Ann Patchett book, I felt the magic, but I didn’t MELT over the Patchett-magic. I expected more for such a well regarded author. I plan to go back and read her back catalogue before I make my true opinion.

I sometimes got confused on the daughters, other than Emily, their personalities seemed to mesh together with even the MC.

Overall, beautiful, slow, summer time reading book that I thoroughly enjoyed.
