When I read Tom Hanks wrote a book, I put it on my list of things I HAD TO READ. I panicked. I was so excited. Once I heard Tom Hanks was reading for the audio book, it was obvious what format I needed.
I waited months to get my hands (or ears) on this book. Dropped everything when it was available. The intro started interesting, I was excited to get into it. ….
Then the book started. I thought this would be more about Tom’s experience, more Tom’s thoughts … and less fictional. It quickly became apparent that writing a novel is not one of Tom’s talents. The story needed a lot of help. I am curious about the physical copy as it was odd all the interruptions and side notes read out loud in the audio book. Very distracting. My fellow readers and book reviewers mentioned the interruptions/distractions from the story often and I’m curious what it looks like.
The story itself was not interesting enough for me. The writing felt like a bunch of run on sentences, again, I’d like to see a physical copy to see if what I heard is what I would read.
Anywho, made it 70% finished before giving up. Disappointing. Nothing really positive to say about the book other than I still love Tom Hanks and loved listening to his familiar voice reading a book out loud for me. (ha)
