Sometimes I Lie By: Alice Feeney

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Amber is in coma and doesn’t know how she got there.
Alice Feeney writes solid, 4 star thrillers. I’ve loved every book that has come out from her … so I thought I should start exploring her back catalogue. For me, this book was her trying out every single twist she could think of in one book. It felt like a demo book, a test book, a feeling out how to write a thriller book.

This left the book messy. The plot so calculated, the events so often, so out there that in the end she lost the reader. I think if you are a novice to thrillers, this will blow you away. But as someone who loves thrillers, loves studying the twists, loves going back in the book to see what I could have missed…. this was too much for me.
I believe I’m being nice with my 3 stars…. but the twists were still good, there were just too many of them. Always interesting going back to older books with your favorite authors. Makes you appreciate how far they have come.
